Rider Beat A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
Well with some delay my synopsis of the Calgary/Saskatchewan game is finally done. The riders exploded for 6 TDs in the contest to embarrass the stampeder's 49-8 Sunday night. Kerry Joseph let the way tossing up 4 majors including one of the best grabs ever at Mosaic Stadium by new rider D.J. Flick...absolutely amazing.....while new rider Wes Cates rushed for 2 scores..
Jason Armstead opened the scoring catching a 35 yard toss to cap a 104 yard opening drive by the riders....which really set the stage for things to come......
The riders owned every aspect of the game, expect maybe the punting department.
All the talk coming into the game was how great Calgary's offense was....how Reynolds was the leagues best back, how the receiving core is the best ever assembled in CFL history and how the Stamps were gonna teach us a lesson.....What really happened on Sunday was our offense exploited a suspect Calgary Defense....play action and the play calling was truly a thing of beauty to watch....At times Calgarys defense looked absolutely lost....
And what about that incredible offense we heard about? Nick Lewis dropped 2 balls, Hank was sacked 4 times, lost a fumble and threw an interception.....they were flat out horrible......
A huge props to Richie hall again for his preparations on D....The defense has only given up 9 points in 8 quarters this year....truly amazing if you ask me.
That combined with one rider turnover in 2 games is a major factor in the riders early success.
Johnson is quickly making a name for himself...and people are starting to forget about Morgan and Bush...if he continues to play like this...he will be a star in this league..
Chunky had 2 more sacks...what can you say about him....in 2 games as Nate Davis' replacement he has as many sacks as Nate did in 16 games last year with the green and white....
This team looks like they are in mid season form right now and playing with extreme confidence. Kudos to coach Austin for making this team turn the corner....It looks like this team could truly have a special year.
A quick look at Fridays clash between BC and the riders...
Dave Dickinson and Jason Clermont return to Regina to clash for first place. The lions are the defending champs and looking to stay in first place. The riders are trying to start 3-0 for the first time since 1988 (the last year they hosted a playoff game).
The leos have last years grey cup MVP Joe Smith in the back field and boast a lethal receiving core with guys like Geroy, Clermont, and Paris Jackson.
The key to the game will be whether the riders D can continue to put massive pressure on Dickinson and force him into making bad decisions......if the D lets DD have his way it could be a long night for the riders....Though I do think it should be easier for the D line to prepare for DD as he is far less mobile than Hank.
On our side of the ball we just need to keep on doing what were doing....using different formations, play action, throwing up the hash marks....keep the Defense guessing....
I again am gonna go with the riders this week
