Cursed in Edmonton?

Here is my assessment of the game that I posted over at Riderfans.com............


Well....it was the tail of two games...In the first half we absolutely dominated Edmonton..the score could have easily been 34-1 if a few things would have gone our way.

Special teams was great tonight....a complete 180 from last week...Jason Armstead totally redeemed himself...and our punt and kickoff coverage was great...Boreheim was booting the ball great....

Andy Fantuz continues to struggle...I am not sure what to do here...the guy is fighting the ball and its gotten in his head....

Dropped balls...all night...Fantuz,Childs, etc...it is unacceptable in pro football....

penalties....OFFSIDE....DJ Flick...two weeks in a row you have taken costly offside penalties...

Offensive line...non-existent in the second half...Joseph had no time and was under extreme pressure the whole 3rd and 4th quarter....it was embarrassing....

Joseph....was great in the first half....his running opened up the pass and he looked great...we had several good drives and got ourselves out of crummy field position early on...the second half...he was ugly and I would have supported a change just to mix it up as we had nothing going on offense....to his defense the O line didn't show up....


Matty D getting no looks...I know he isn't a big target of KJ but the guy was the only bright spot last week and was only thrown to maybe 2 times tonight....the guy does nothing but make plays...we need to get him the ball....

Cates....great game...had some excellent runs....the guy proved he is the #1 tonight....the big run brought back was a thing of beauty....to bad it didn't count....again costly penalties killed us...

On defense....Perry was a stud....I could care less about what Suitor said about him being ineffective in the second half..he was a monster in the first half and all over the ball....

We sat back on D in the second half....it was disturbing to watch....RR ran the same screen pass about 10 times for big yards against us....We continue to give up yards underneath week in and week out..Richie needs to address it.....the inability to stop the screen pass by Edmonton cost us the game tonight....

I'm not sure what to make of the Congi miss....As a coach before the half you are always supposed to take the points instead of gambling....I am not sure if they had a time out left and could have taken it after second down if they would have gotten a first....either way...it hurt......

this was a huge missed opportunity..we had a great chance to seperate ourselves from Calgary and Edmonton....if anything...this should have showed what happens when you sit back against Ricky Ray...he will burn you....


other random thoughts....we are airing the ball out a ton...I like it....Joseph was tossing good balls.....just not caught for whatever reason....I have seen more bombs this year than the past 3 seasons combined...
